First Friday of the Month

Here is God's beloved Son;

In your glory; we honor you, O Lord:

- - be present in the darkness that surrounds those who suffer.  R/

In your majesty, we praise you, O Lord:

Rebecca Dedicated to My Dearest Daniel August 3, 2010

“We Remember Them”

In the rising of the sun and in its going down,

We remember them.

In the blowing of the wind and the chill of the winter,

We remember them.

In the warmth of the sun and the peace of the summer,

We remember them.

In the rustling of the leaves and the beauty of autumn,

We remember them.

In the beginning of the year and when it ends,

We remember them.

When we are weary and in need of strength,

We remember them.

When we are lost and sick at heart,

We remember them.

When we have joys we yearn to share,

We remember them.

So as long as we live, they too shall live,

For they are now a part of us, as we remember them.

Surrender
I surrender to the Christ Presence within me.
As I read today's affirmation, I feel the weight of personal striving give way to the relief that comes from letting go. I yield to the Christ Presence within me and find rest, help and inspiration.
Relaxing my mind, I let my steady stream of thoughts diminish and fade away. With every breath, the tension in my body is released. I bask in the warmth of divine love.
I surrender and open my mind and heart to the flow of God's good. Surrender is a gentle yielding, a willingness to receive. I open the way to receive ideas, healing energy and answered prayer. Surrendered to the Christ Presence within me, I go forth at ease and assured of the good that is coming to me.
Come to me, all you that are weary and are carrying heavy burdens, and I will give you rest.--Matthew 11:28

Mom~Danny~ILU Soldier of God July 29, 2010

I am a soldier in God's Army

I am a soldier in the army of my God. The Lord Jesus Christ is my commanding officer. The Holy Bible is my code of conduct. Faith, prayer, and the Word are my weapons of warfare. I have been taught by the Holy Spirit, trained by experience, tried by adversity and tested by fire. I am a volunteer in this army, and I am enlisted for eternity. I will either retire in this army at the Rapture or die in this army; but I will not get out, sell out, be talked out, or pushed out. I am faithful, reliable, capable and dependable. If my God needs me, I am there. If He needs
me in the Sunday school, to teach the children, work with the youth, help adults or just sit and learn, He can use me because I am there! I am a soldier. I am not a baby. I do not need to be pampered, petted, primed up, pumped up, picked up or pepped up. I am a soldier. No one has to call me, remind me, write me, visit me, entice me, or lure me. I am a soldier. I am not a wimp. I am in place, saluting my King, obeying His orders, praising His name, and building His kingdom! No one has to send me flowers, gifts, food, cards, candy or give me handouts. I do not need to be cuddled, cradled, cared for, or catered to. I am committed. I cannot have my feelings hurt bad enough to turn me around. I cannot be discouraged enough to turn me aside. I cannot lose enough to cause me to quit. When Jesus called me into this army, I had nothing. If I end up with nothing, I will still come out ahead. I will win. My God has and will continue to supply all of my needs. I am more than a conqueror. I will always triumph. I can do all things through Christ. Devils cannot defeat me. People cannot disillusion me. Weather cannot weary me. Sickness cannot stop me. Battles cannot beat me. Money
cannot buy me. Governments cannot silence me and hell cannot handle me. I am a soldier. Even death cannot destroy me. For when my commander calls me from this battlefield, He will promote me to Captain and then allow me to rule with Him. I am a soldier in the army, and I'm marching claiming victory. I will not give up. I will not turn around. I am a soldier, marching heaven bound. Here I stand! Will you stand with me?
Guess what? If you've accepted Jesus Christ as your Savior you're already enlisted! Question is, which part of the service are you in:

1. Active Duty: Serving the Lord faithfully, daily, and on duty 24-7?

2. Reserve status: Serving only when called upon or twice a year, Christmas and Easter?

3. Guard status: Backing up the Active Duty group? or

4. AWOL! Absent without the Lord?
THINK ABOUT IT!!!

God  our shield and defender. Let us put our trust in him, as we pray:

R/   O God our strength, to you we turn.

O God, those who put their trust in you cannot be shaken:

--strengthen in faith those who are afraid.  R/

O God, you surround your people with your all-powerful love:

---open the eyes of faith to see your presence.  R/

O God, the rule of wickedness shall not rest on your people:

--guard the hearts of the young and uncertain.  R/

O God, you drive away crookedness and evil:

---drive the moneychagers from the temples of our heart.  R/

O God, your peace dwells all around your people:

---let those who have died live on in your peace.  R/

                                                                            Personal intentions

O God, My Lord, only you know my needs. Please keep Danny as close to you as possible. Guide him with your Angels. He at last is in peace...in a place full of love...cover him with the Angels' Wings and comfort him while i get there. Protect and give him peace. Amen.

May the lord guard our going and coming/ both now and for ever. Amen.

Mom ~ Danny ~ What is a Brother? July 28, 2010

What Is A Brother?

Brothers can be older or younger,
even if they are your twin.
Older or younger, with a brother,
you never seem to win.

An older brother likes to pull rank,
and show you whose boss.
But in times of trouble,
He will defend his younger siblings,
no matter what the cost.

A younger brother is noisy, pesky
and nonstop wants to play,
No matter what you do or where you go,
he is always in your way.

Who our brothers are, we don't have a choice,
So, we accept them with pride and just rejoice.

The role of a brother changes as he grows older,
His image of a sibling role model, becomes
more profound and bolder.

In a fatherless home, he would be
cool to have around,
role model image of a father,
through him could be found.

Your brother can be your confidant, young or old,
Many secrets, between siblings have unfolded.

When you are friendless and need a friend,
A brother is there to comfort and befriend you,
thru thick or thin.

A brother listens to your problems,
when he has the time and you feel the need,
Some good advice he can gave--Yes indeed!

As a sister, don't have a problem with
a boyfriend, especially one he doesn't like,
His protective nature, will quickly tell that boyfriend to
"Go take a hike."

A brother can bring joy to a family,
good hugs, laughs and fun
I thank God that he gave me several
brothers and not just one.

            "Hug"
A hug to comfort a hug to share a hug to show you'll
always be there, a hug to express ones feelings inside
a hug to suppress the anger you hide. the hugs that you
share make you shimmer and shine.  and now your hugs
are blended with mine"
By-Teresa Arthurhultz

t's wond'rous what a hug can do. A hug can cheer you when you're blue. A hug can say, "I love you so" or, "Gee I hate to see you go". A hug is, "Welcome back again!" and "Great to see you!" or "Where've you been?" A hug can soothe a small child's pain and bring a rainbow after rain. The hug! There's just no doubt about it, we scarcely could survive without it. No longer do you have to worry, for a hug is the way to say "I'm sorry." A hug delights and warms and charms, it must be why we all have arms.   Hugs are great for Fathers and Mothers sweet for Sister, swell for Brothers. Chances are some favorite Aunts love them more than potted plants. Kittens crave them. Puppies love them. Heads of State are not above them. A hug can break the language barrier and make the dullest day seem merrier. No need to fret about the store of 'em. The more you give the more there are of 'em. So stretch those arms without delay, and

GIVE SOMEONE A HUG TODAY!

FACTS AND HINTS ABOUT HUGS

~Dave Ross~

HUGGING - THE PERFECT CURE FOR WHATEVER AILS YOU, NO MOVEABLE PARTS, NO BATTERIES TO WEAR OUT, NO PERIODIC CHECKUPS, LOW ENERGY CONSUMPTION, HIGH ENERGY YIELD, INFLATION - PROOF, NO MONTHLY PAYMENTS, NO INSURANCE REQUIREMENTS, THEFT - PROOF, NON - TAXABLE. NON - POLLUTING, AND, OF COURSE, FULLY RETURNABLE, HUGGING IS HEALTHY, IT RELIEVES TENSION, COMBATS DEPRESSION, REDUCES STRESS, IMPROVES BLOOD CIRCULATION, IT’S INVIGORATING, IT’S REJUVENATING, IT ELEVATES SELF - ESTEEM, IT GENERATES GOOD WILL, IT HAS NO UNPLEASANT SIDE EFFECTS, IT IS NOTHING LESS THAN A MIRACLE DRUG.

The Power of a

(((Hug)))

There's something in a simple hug

That always warms the heart;

It welcomes us back home

And makes it easier to part.

A hug's the way to share the joy

And sad times we go through,

Or just a way for friends to say

They like you 'cuz you're you.

Hugs are meant for anyone

For whom we really care-

From your grandma to your neighbor,

Or a cuddly teddy bear.

A hug is an amazing thing--

It's just the perfect way

To show the love we're feeling

But can't find the words to say.

It's funny how a little hug

Makes everyone feel good;

In every place and language,

It's always understood.

And hugs don't need equipment,

Special batteries, or parts--

Just open up your arms

And open up your hearts.

~Jill Wolf~

There is no such thing as a bad hug; there are only good hugs and great hugs
Hug someone at least once a day and twice on a rainy day.
Hug with a smile; closed eyes are optional.
A snuggle is a longish hug.
Bedtime hugs help chase away bad dreams.
Never hug tomorrow someone you could hug today.
You cannot give a hug - without getting one.

Saints

OF TODAY AND YESTERDAY

The Lord has become my stronghold.

Saint Magdalene Yi Yong-Hui

Virginand Martyr (c. 1808-1839)

The Korean Catholic maiden Magdalene Yi Yong-hui resolved to consecrate her virginity to God. When her pagan father, who hated the Catholic faith, seemed bent upon forcing her to marry a pagan, the desperate girl staged  her own disappearance. Magdalene went into a forest, bringing with her an extra set of clothes that she tore to shreds and scattered about in the woods to make it seem that she had been killed by a wild beast. She then fled to Seoul to take refuge in the home of her Catholic aunt. Upon learning that Magdalene's shredded clothes  had been found and that she had apparently fallen prey to a tiger,  her father fainted. Magdalene Catolic mother was also devasted, but subsequently learned the the truth of what had happened. Noticing a change in his wife, and sensing the reason, the father begged her to tell him what she knew, promising he would no longer oppose Magdalene's consecration. Immediately upon learning that his daughter was alive and well, he rushed to Seoul to see her and promised not to make her marry. Magdalene was later beheaded for her faith by Koreans pagan regime, dying in 1839 at the age of thirty-one.

Mary is the Queen of the true faith.

Mom ~ Danny ~ ILU Reflections of The Precious Blood of Jesus July 19, 2010

"The executioners take their stand beside the whipping post...They raise their muscular arms...there is a ripple of sinews...then, like ugly snakes about to strike...the whips hiss through the air...there is a dull, sickening thud...ugly welts rise on the quivering flesh of the God-Man...Again and again they strike, and furrow adjoins furrow in His flesh until His body is criss-crossed with ghastly ridges and bleeding wounds...But still there is the almost rhythmic rise and fall of the lashes.

"Hardly had they commenced before the Precious Blood began to flow...down upon the stone pavement it trickled, forming crimson rivulets and pools. The Angels must have prostrated in adoration before that redeeming Blood...They were watching a world being paid for...and every drop of that Blood was the price of a thousand worlds. But still the agony went on!

"How long this torture lasted, we do not know, but it must have been almost beyond description, since the Evangelists do not trust themselves to write it...They simply say: 'Pilate scourged Him.'

"But finally it was over...The ropes were cut, and slowly Christ slumped to the ground...That stone pavement which was wet with His own Blood"

Reminder - July is designated especially as the Month of the Precious Blood of Jesus, a special time to honor the Blood of Jesus. Please see my post entitled Devotions to the Precious Blood of Jesus for more information.
